This is not the end!

I really enjoyed the animoto and the livebinders. I can see real use for these in the classroom. Actually, I can see real use in the classroom for all of the "things." The only one I find might not be as useful is Facebook. I feel this is a personal for fun thing and not a school thing. I am glad I had to take this class and complete the 23 things. I will not keep up with this blog, but I may find use for one in the future. Right now I need to focus on my school work and my family. Thanks for putting all of this information into one spot. I am sure I will be looking back over this site once I become a teacher.

Thing 23

Creative Commons is a great tool. I have to admit that before this class I never thought it was wrong to copy pictures from websites. I thought as long as you were not doing it for profit it was ok to copy. I am glad I have learned the truth. I am sure this is a topic that will continue to be studied and reviewed. It seems that it is a topic that is foreever changing.

Education– Language Arts

The titles of my binders are Middle School Education, Education-Language Arts, and Education- Reading. I think binders would be a great collaboration tools for educators. You could also share binders with your students and their parents. This could be useful in the classroom.

Thing 21

Animoto was really easy to use. I created a video in just a few minutes. I can see this being a very useful tool in the classroom. In my furture language arts class my students could create videos and then create a story about their pictures.

Try our video maker at Animoto.

TeacherPop is particularly interesting. I can see how useful this website could be for any future and current teachers. This could be an excellent place to share resources and support one another. I joined GoodReads because I love to read, and I plan on spending my summer lost in a few books. I love how it gives the reader a list books related to your likes. I can see how this site will be useful for me.

It is necessary for educators to understand the social networking sites because the students love these sites. I have used Facebook for quite some time. I like it to keep up with friends and family who live elsewhere. I like that with Facebook I can get text messages from certain pages I like. I do not have to log into Facebook each time to know what is going on with an organization or person. I do not believe I would use Facebook for my classroom. I have an account, but I hardly use it. I tend to read more than I write on my Facebook account. I think Facebook is more fun and enjoyment than teaching.

Thing 17

I like using this program. I tend to look at a lot of websites, but I always forget where I found what information. I think this website would make it easier to manage other websites into categories. Since I will be an English teacher, I could use tags for grammar, reading, and writing. I could tag authors and related information for a title or author. I like that I can access the tags from any computer since I can access the tags on the internet.

Thing 16

I chose to use igoogle as my start page. I chose igoogle because I use a lot of google tools. I use gmail and google calendar everyday. I also use google tasks within my calendar. I will problably keep igoogle as my home page. I love google calendar because I can sync it from my ipad, android phone, and laptop. I can check it from anywhere and any computer. I can also share it with my husband, my children, and other family members. I can set up many calendars on my google calendar. I have a calendar for housework, kids stuff, my school stuff, my hubby's stuff, and other calendars. I have used to-do lists like remember the milk and tooledo. I use google tasks for my to-do lists. Some of the other tools I like was Getting Things Done and stickies.

Thing 15

I do not know if I would use Wiki in the classroom. I can see some useful benefits for the application, but I am not sure if I would use it. I did look at various language arts and reading wiki pages. I can see how these would be useful. The problem I have is that anyone can change the content on the wiki spaces. I would worry that someone might change the content for malicious reasons.

Thing 14

My idea classroom would be a sixth or seventh grade language arts class or reading class. I can see how both flowcharts and mind maps could be helpful. During a reading class, both of these concepts could help students find the main ideas, plot out the summary, correlate the characters, and many other story ideas. They could also use either of these concepts to create, write, and diagram their own stories. I can also see both of these being useful in a language arts classroom. These could be added to a PowerPoint or worksheet.

Thing 13

I tried Google Docs and ZOHO writer. I did not like Zoho writer as much as I like Google docs. I like all the bells and whistle of ZOHO writer. There is a section where a teacher could add equations and such to their paper. I am not a math teacher, but I can see how this could be helpful for a math teacher. I did find Google Docs a bit more user friendly. I like that ZOHO has the capabilities of adding the documents directly to your blog pages. I did have problems doing this, but I am sure that user error. Although either of these apps would be useful I like my Word program better. It could just be that I am happy with the Word program.
Students could use Google Docs in collaborative efforts by uploading a document. The students could then work on the document independently while still working together.
